I've been investing in commercial real estate since 1968 when I purchased a multi-tenant office/industrial property located in Brisbane, CA (just south of San Francisco) and I've never stopped collecting and investing in real estate since. I've invested in and have owned all kinds of commercial real estate including multi-family residential, office, retail, mixed use, industrial, hospitality, gas stations and car wash properties. Over the last four plus decades I've had my share of both ups and downs through many real estate cycles and through it all I've always learned something new all along the way of this journey. There is an old saying that basically says that there is no substitute for experience and I am literally living proof of that statement.
When I returned home following my service in the U.S. Air Force I started acquiring single-family homes, plexes and small commercial properties to rehab and flip for profit and I decided to become a licensed realtor so that I would be able to reduce my own transaction costs. In 1970 I was first licensed in California and I began my professional career in real estate. I soon expanded my real estate business to include commercial property sales, leasing, property management and maintenance in addition to the construction services utilized in the rehab and flipping portion of the business. I further expanded my menu of services to include consulting services serving the needs of both new and experienced investors in the structure of their real estate portfolios so that they were able to maximize the return on their investment in real estate. Through all this time I've assisted my clients and their heirs to realize substantial wealth via their real estate portfolios and I'm proud of that accomplishment. To quote the veteren sportscaster, Dick Vitale, "It's all about the scoreboard, baby."
